Areas of Expertise
As a post-doctoral researcher and now a science/medical writer, the majority of my work has been concerning neuroscience and psychitary. Core subjects include Alzheimer's disease, sleep, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and HIV-associated Dementia. I also write about HIV, hepatitis C, and metabolic syndrome, and, additionally, about the politics of health, especially with regard to cultural competence.
My work is for both professionals and laypeople, and has involved writing and editing journal papers and abstracts, grant applications, power-point presentations, scripted case-studies, and news articles, and both writing and presenting live lectures.
As well as carrying out my own scientific research and publishing papers on such, I have worked extensively in Continuing Medical Education, aimed primarly at mental healthcare professionals such as Psychiatrists and Substance Abuse Specialists.
I also write regularly for two lay websites - examiner.com and healthday.com - on a diverse number of health-related topics.
